Pillar of Shame Project
INTERNATIONAL MEDIA REFUSES to report on anything „that could damage the ‚glory’ of the United Nations“ (a major German newspaper told us). They admit their ignorance of Bosnian History and the betrayal of the world. A political betrayal, most of Bosnian people still have to live in. We will not stop to speak out these truths.
BUT WE ARE IN NEED OF YOUR SUPPORT NOW!
Here is what you can do to support the PILLAR OF SHAME project:
1. Ask your local politicians, artists, writers, musicians, sportists, human rights activists to SHOW THEIR SUPPORT: take pictures of them, contributing their shoes to the project. Send the photos to: email@example.com
2. If you live in the U.S., Canada or Western Europe: call newspapers, webportals, magazines, tv & radio stations to COVER THE STORY. The 15. commemoration day of the Srebrenica Genocide is the perfect moment to bring to consciousness how the world betrayed Bosnia. And by the way: we do want a broad discussion on the U.N.’s responsibility to protect NOW. We have to learn from what happened in Srebrenica.
3. Spread the word of mouth on your website, facebook/twitter account, with videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=639KG4-iOeQ, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-J1frKXPmE, http://vimeo.com/11964743), folders, banners, posters, pictures (http://stubsrama.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=18&Itemid=14&lang=en) or the project presentation in pdf (http://stubsrama.com/images/stories/presse/EN_A4_PRESSEKIT.pdf).
4. Put messages for Western Europe in shoes: war stories, personal anecdotes, pictures from victimes. Bring them to one of 12 cities in Bosnia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland: http://stubsrama.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=6&Itemid=9&lang=en
The Pillar of Shame project is supported by the Mothers of Srebrenica, the official memorial center in Potocari/Srebrenica, the Society for Threatened Peoples, Genocide Watch, Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada and the Srebrenica Genocide Blog.
